As the saying goes, prevention is always better than cure. Vaccination for pets provide immunity against common diseases. Furthermore, many diseases that we vaccinate against are caused by viruses. Antibiotics do not work against viral diseases and they are very difficult to treat.
The most commonly administered vaccines are against the following diseases:
Common Diseases in Dogs
- Canine Distemper
- Canine Hepatitis
- Parainfluenza virus
- Parvovirus
- Kennel cough
- Leptospirosis
Common Diseases in Cats
- Feline Panleukopenia
- Feline Herpesvirus
- Feline Influenza
- Feline Chlamydia
- Pets due for export to other countries will also require a rabies vaccination. This is not required for pets living in Singapore as we are a rabies-free country.
- Cats in multicat households or shelters may require a feline immunodeficiency virus and feline leukemia virus (FIV/FELV) vaccine.
